Arts Council selects architects for Visual Art Education Center.

ARC Architects from Seattle will design the space for the Visual Art Education Center. The Center will be located in the Artspace building on Hoyt Avenue in downtown Everett.

Arts Together—A Creative Arts Festival
Seeking writers, artists, performers and non-profit arts organizations for Arts Together, a creative arts festival that celebrates all the arts, literary, visual and performing. Two-days of interactive fun showcasing the many diverse arts organizations, mediums, influences and resources available in the County. From Stanwood to Edmonds, Arts Together will feature the artists and non-profit arts organizations from around the county to create a unique festival experience that will draw visitors from across the region.

Edmonds Center for the Arts
Art of our Mothers—Open to all professional and amateur visual artists who are also mothers. Painting, drawing, photography, and sculpture accepted and subject matter does not need to be motherhood. Prizes will be awarded. Approximately 20 pieces will be exhibited in the main lobby of the new Edmonds Center for the Arts. This venue is a stunning Art Deco building in downtown Edmonds, Washington with performances attended by hundreds of patrons.

The Arts of Kenmore
10th Annual Kenmore Art Show—The 10th Annual Kenmore Art Show will be held August 23 – 31, 2008, with entries due Friday August 15, 2008 between the hours of 10 AM – 8 PM. Artist preview and Awards Ceremony, Friday August 22nd, 6 – 8 PM. Show is open to the public 2:30 – 8:30 PM, Aug 23 – 31. The venue will be Northlake Lutheran Church, 6620 NE 185th ST, Kenmore, WA as in the past. Last year 456 entries were recieved, 275 were showed, 33 items sold for $7096 and $3400 was awarded in prizes plus numerous Honorable Mention ribbons were given.

The prospectus will be mailed in mid June to our mailing list. If you don’t receive one by June 25, please request that one be sent to you.

Fresh Paint: Festival of Artists at Work—The 2008 application for Fresh Paint is through ZAPPlication (ZAPP) an online application system that allows artists to submit and manage applications to multiple art festivals. Some of you may already be familar with this system. ZAPP was created in 2004 by the Western States Arts Federation (WESTAF) as a universal online application for arts organizations.

The complete artist's prospectus is available on our website (see below). Look for the link "Info for Artists" on the left side of the page. A $10 jury fee is required when applying to Fresh Paint 2008.

Letters of Joy FestivalMay 2 & 3—Two-day conference at Edmonds Community College for calligraphers and paper artists. Roaring & Purring—The theme is CATS of all kind, domesticated and wild, in all media. Exhibit will take place from August 1 through 29 at Solovei Gallery. Entries are limited to 4 from each artist. All originals must be for sale.

Sisters Restaurant
US Citizenship: I Vote, Therefore I am—Artists with political opinions expressed in art suitable for wall hanging are invited to display and sell their works at the Sisters Restaurant from September 7 through November 2. Works will be judged on artistry, political input and clarity of the message. Open to all political groups, parties and non-partisan voices. Works, containing bigotry, racism, or insult will not be accepted. Limit of entries will be determined later.

2008 Holiday Group Exhibit at Sisters Restaurant
Four Seasons—Exhibit will run from November 2 through January 4. Regardless of genre (landscape, still-life, portrait, or abstract) or style (representative, or abstract), submissions should reflect the essence of winter, spring, summer and autumn. Only work for sale and suitable for wall hanging will be accepted.

40 Artist Lofts—Affordable artist housing with high ceilings, flexible floorplans, large windows, and durable surfaces. Project expected to be completed in 2009 will serve artists and their families earning less than 60% of the regional median income.

Rents at these income levels would range from $817 for a studio to $1,215 for a three-bedroom unit. Creative individuals and families from diverse artistic and cultural backgrounds are encouraged to apply.

An Artist Selection Committee will screen applicants to determine participation and commitment to the arts. Content of an applicant’s artistic work is not judged. Artspace is especially interested in individuals committed to building community at the Lofts who will give some of their time and energy toward to achieve this goal.
